Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join our team at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a Clinical Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing pharmacy clinical programs, including formulary management, policy and procedure development, and education across the healthcare spectrum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system
  • Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals
  • Comply with facility policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners and suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives
  • Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection
  • Support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds
  • Identify, design, and analyze drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and determine action plans based on results
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients
  • Develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs, including drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as determined appropriate based on patient population and literature guidelines
  • Develop, manage, and mentor the antimicrobial management program (AMP)
Requirements
  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy - Required
  • Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy - Preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist - Required
  • At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience required; preferably within area of focus - Required
  • Completion of hospital PGY2/pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship - Preferred
  • Specialty BCPS certification - Preferred
  • Other certification (e.g. FCCP, FASHP) Preferred
  • Hospital Pharmacy Management experience - Preferred
  • Experience performing basic mathematical calculations, balance, and reconciliation of figures - Required
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects, and purchasing vendor applications - Required
Licenses, Certifications, & Training
  • ACLS certification Preferred
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy - Required
  • Active Pharmacy Consultant license, or equivalent as per State requirements for a Pharmacy - Required
