Job Overview

The Private Brands Innovation team is dedicated to crafting groundbreaking machine learning solutions that enhance customer awareness for Amazon's proprietary brands and facilitate product discovery.

This team is a collaborative group of Scientists and Engineers who develop and implement innovative solutions utilizing advanced technologies to tackle complex scientific challenges at Amazon.

We leverage methodologies from Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Multi-Armed Bandits, Reinforcement Learning, Bayesian Optimization, as well as causal and statistical inference, to optimize the customer journey.

Our initiatives are vital for the success of Amazon's private brands and set a standard for discovery solutions throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead applied science projects in machine learning from inception to deployment.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of customer behavior regarding the discovery, evaluation, and purchase of Private Brands to innovate marketing and merchandising strategies.
  • Propose actionable ideas to enhance models and algorithms, supported by robust experimentation and preliminary findings.
  • Develop creative solutions to overcome technical challenges and enable new analytical approaches that inform critical technical and business decisions.
  • Communicate findings, reports, and data insights to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Provide constructive feedback on peer research and mentor junior scientists and engineers.
  • Contribute to Amazon's scientific community and engage with external research communities.
Basic Qualifications
  • PhD or Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Experience in areas including algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, and high-performance computing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience in professional software development.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base salary for this role ranges from $136,000 to $222,200, depending on market location and individual qualifications.

In addition to base salary, Amazon offers a comprehensive total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
