The Private Brands Discovery team is at the forefront of developing groundbreaking machine learning solutions aimed at enhancing customer engagement with Amazon's proprietary brands and facilitating product discovery.
This team comprises a diverse group of Scientists and Engineers dedicated to creating transformative solutions using state-of-the-art technology to tackle some of the most challenging scientific issues faced by Amazon.
Our approach incorporates techniques from Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, multi-armed bandits, reinforcement learning, Bayesian Optimization, causal and statistical inference, and econometrics to enhance the customer journey.
Our innovations are vital for the success of Amazon's private brands and serve as a model for discovery solutions throughout the organization.
This role presents a unique opportunity for individuals looking to make a significant business impact, delve into complex large-scale challenges, enable actionable insights in the consumer market, and collaborate closely with a team of scientists and engineers.
As a scientist, you will integrate business and industry insights into scientific and technological choices. You will set benchmarks for scientific excellence and influence how we design and implement algorithms. Your contributions will exemplify best practices in algorithm design, clarity, model architecture, efficiency, and scalability. You will address inherently complex challenges, gaining expertise as necessary, and simplify intricate problems into manageable solutions.
With a strong emphasis on proactive engagement, this individual will effectively collaborate with teams across Science, Engineering, Economics, and Business.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead applied science initiatives in machine learning from concept through to deployment. This includes deep scientific exploration of innovative methods to enhance customer journeys through discovery, analyzing customer interactions with Private Brands to refine marketing and merchandising approaches.
- Propose actionable ideas to enhance models and algorithms, supported by sound reasoning, experimentation, and preliminary findings.
- Develop innovative strategies to overcome technical challenges and facilitate new analytical methods that inform critical technical and business decisions.
- Communicate findings, reports, and data insights to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Provide constructive feedback on peer research and mentor junior scientists and engineers.
- Contribute to the broader Amazon science community and engage with external research networks.

Amazon's compensation reflects the labor market across various US regions. The base salary for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Compensation is determined by multiple factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position, equity, sign-on bonuses, and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a comprehensive compensation package, alongside a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
