Role Overview
The Applied Scientist role within the Onsite Buying Experience (OBX) team is pivotal in advancing our mission to create a seamless procurement experience. The OBX team is dedicated to developing top-tier products that enable requisitioners globally to purchase compliant business items efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to design systems that enhance the shopping experience for Amazon Business customers.
- Utilize advanced Machine Learning (ML) techniques, including Deep Learning, to optimize customer interactions and improve product discoverability.
- Drive the development of features from concept to implementation, ensuring a direct impact on millions of enterprise customers.
- Conduct A/B testing to measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions and refine algorithms accordingly.

Qualifications
Basic:
- 4+ years of experience in applied research.
- 3+ years of experience in developing machine learning models for business applications.
- PhD or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
- Experience with neural networks and machine learning methodologies.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with modeling tools like R, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and others.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop or Spark.

Compensation
Our compensation structure reflects the labor market across various US regions. The base salary for this position ranges from $150,400 to $260,000, depending on market location and individual qualifications. Additional compensation may include equity and a comprehensive benefits package.
