In this role, you will collaborate with a forward-thinking and supportive group of experts in our state-of-the-art laboratory, specifically designed to enhance ergonomics and streamline workflow. Our team is also involved in the development of a cutting-edge laboratory information system aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring patient safety. Your contributions will be vital in supporting Regions Hospital along with several affiliated suburban hospitals and numerous clinics within our network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out the processing of small, uncomplicated specimens under the guidance of the histopathology medical director.
- Conduct tests and procedures within a histology laboratory, which includes obtaining, receiving, and processing surgical pathology specimens for patients of all ages, as well as maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Execute additional related tasks as required.
Essential Qualifications:
Education: An Associate's degree from an accredited Histotechnician program or equivalent experience.
Licensure/Registration/Certification: ASCP or ASCPi board certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist; new graduates from a Histotechnician program must achieve board certification within six months of employment.
Desirable Qualifications:
A minimum of one year of full-time relevant experience in a histopathology laboratory within the past five years, including:
- Experience in processing immunohistochemistry (IHC) and/or Direct Immunofluorescence (DIF).
- Prior experience in grossing small specimens.
