About the RoleThis exciting opportunity is with the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence and at-risk children through comprehensive pro bono legal services.
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Staff Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our Domestic Violence Program, you will provide high-quality representation in domestic violence and family law cases, focusing on survivors who speak Spanish or have limited English proficiency.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal representation in DC Superior Court to ensure survivors receive the justice they deserve.
- Help navigate the complexities of the US court system and facilitate communication with clients who may not be familiar with it.
- Collaborate with our client advocates to deliver holistic and culturally sensitive services.
- Develop educational resources and training materials to enhance services for Spanish-speaking and limited English proficiency survivors.
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong background in law, excellent communication skills, and a passion for social justice. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with domestic violence victims and/or trauma survivors is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish is required, as well as excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
