Job Description
At The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled U.S. Public Policy Advocate to join our team in the greater Washington, D.C. area. This is a remote position that requires occasional in-person meetings and domestic travel.

The Role:
This position will operate as an advocate in advancing our organization's public policy and thought leadership goals in the United States. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Administration, and federal financial regulatory agencies, as well as other federal public policy stakeholders and influencers.

Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders in the U.S. government
* Educate policymakers about internal auditing, The IIA, its certifications and standards, and various relevant policy issues
* Track relevant legislative proposals, hearings, rules, regulations, public comment periods, and other various government policy proposals in the U.S.
* Support IIA staff, volunteers, chapters, and members in advancing our public policy goals in the U.S.
* Identify emerging political risks and opportunities in the United States and formulate appropriate responses to advance our best interests, our members' interests, the internal audit profession, and the public

Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in political science, economics, accounting, or public policy; a Master's degree or J.D. is a plus
* At least four years working for a congressional or Senate office, a federal agency, and/or a membership organization or corporation, while actively engaged in public policymaking, lobbying, or government relations
* Ability to build and maintain strong bipartisan relationships, with an already established set of relationships with House and Senate offices
* Demonstrated experience prioritizing and balancing multiple, on-going high-profile projects with the ability to meet critical deadlines
* Strong management skills with a proven ability to lead by influence and consensus
* Self-motivation and an ability to work independently. Demonstrated significant attention to detail.

Salary:
$90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience
