Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Staff Attorney to join our team at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project (DCVLP). As a Senior Legal Advocate, you will be responsible for providing high-quality representation in domestic violence and family law cases to survivors who speak Spanish or have limited English proficiency. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of marginalized individuals and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

About the Role
  • Provide expert legal services in domestic violence and family law cases to survivors with a focus on those who speak Spanish or have limited English proficiency.
  • Navigate the unique differences between the United States court systems and justice systems in the survivor's home country.
  • Develop guides and trainings for other attorneys and advocates geared towards improving services offered to Spanish-speaking and limited English proficiency survivors of domestic violence.

What You'll Need

  • A J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active DC Bar membership or eligibility to waive into the D.C. Bar and commitment to submitting an application if hired.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of legal experience with a strong preference for experience working with domestic violence victims and/or trauma survivors while providing these services in Spanish.
  • Professional Working Proficiency in Spanish and above is required.
