Chief Technology Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Technology Officer to lead our technology department and drive innovation in the Mexico Academy & Central School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the development, support, and operation of technology services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise a technology department, including computing and communications systems and networks, multimedia, electronic conferencing, and peripheral devices.
- Establish production procedures, routines, and controls to ensure availability of all technology resources.
- Research, recommend, procure, and implement new technologies in conjunction with the vision and expectation of the organization.
- Act as liaison between the organization and technology providers/vendors in both procurement and problem resolution.
- Hire, train, and provide direction and assistance to subordinate staff to maintain operational effectiveness.
- Represent the organization or department in any administrative capacity as designated or required.
- Assist in preparation of departmental budget based on organizational requirements.
- Coordinate communications and technology resources in conjunction with local and state agencies and schools to develop opportunities to share and enhance instructional initiatives.
- Prepare detailed status reports on the technology program for presentation to the Board of Education.
- Engage actively in decision-making processes at school and district levels as an integral member of the Administrative Council.
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of information technology systems and software, including computer servers, local and wide area networks, communication equipment for voice and data, centralized hosted services, web access, and information management.
- Ability to supervise staff, meet deadlines, establish priorities, and mitigate support concerns.
- Self-motivated and well-organized, with familiarity with project management procedures and methodology.
- Express ideas clearly and concisely with various groups, prepare comprehensive and detailed oral or written reports, and prepare detailed documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with customers and peers in area of responsibility.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems technology, or a closely related field and four (4) years of management or administrative level work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in directing and planning for a technology support department.
- Two (2) years of experience must have included direct supervision of technical staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an associate's degree in computer science, information systems technology, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience, or its part-time equivalent, as defined above.
