Position Overview:

This is a hybrid role (3 days in office / 2 days remote) at Interactive Brokers Group, a pioneer in trading technology since 1983. Team Dynamics:

The Platform Engineering division is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to architect, design, and implement comprehensive strategies for system installation, reconfiguration, and management, ensuring robust, secure, and resilient solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of automated solutions utilizing state-of-the-art tools, with a focus on infrastructure and containerization.
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions, including new deployments and performance enhancements.
  • Oversee asset inventory, configuration management, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and security protocols across all relevant technologies.
  • Conduct research, evaluate vendors, and implement solutions while providing ongoing support to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Standardize solutions across the organization for hardware, software, configurations, and operational processes.
  • Establish tools and methodologies for effective operational management, including change management, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed for critical upgrades and maintenance of data center systems.
  • Engage in the development and execution of a project roadmap that integrates innovative technologies and processes.
  • Work closely with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues proactively.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in programming and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, or Ruby.
  • Experience with Bash, Perl, or similar scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Strong background in cloud computing and containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and performance tuning.
  • Experience with networking protocols, load balancers, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Proficient in monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and logging tools like Splunk.
