Role Summary and Qualifications

As a Preoperative Nurse in our ambulatory surgery center, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and assessing the nursing care provided preoperatively to your patients. As a vital member of our organization, you will embody the values of HCA and your specific center, delivering quality care as if it were for family.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the care area for patients prior to procedures.
  • Ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available for patient procedures.
  • Conduct thorough physical and psychological assessments, reviewing patient histories and diagnostic tests.
  • Verify the completeness of patient charts before surgical procedures.
  • Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients until they are transferred to the operating room.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or higher in Nursing.
  • A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical environment, preferably in PACU, ICU, or Surgery.
  • Active RN license as mandated by state regulations.
  • BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
  • ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • PALS certification if required by the facility within 30 days of hire.
