Position Overview:

The Human Resources Manager for the manufacturing facility plays a pivotal role in overseeing all HR functions while fostering employee and labor relations within the plant. This position reports directly to the Plant General Manager and collaborates with the Corporate Director of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and mentor the HR team to ensure effective operations. Collaborate with plant leadership to develop innovative HR strategies. Conduct timely and constructive performance assessments. Lead recruitment initiatives for hourly positions and assist in hiring for salaried roles. Promote employee engagement and retention strategies within the facility.

Essential Duties:

Address routine labor relations and HR inquiries regarding policies and agreements. Engage in Gemba walks to maintain visibility and accessibility throughout the plant. Oversee the union grievance process, ensuring prompt management responses. Conduct initial interviews and gather information for employee relations issues. Manage the seniority list and facilitate the job bidding process. Analyze data to understand the implications of negotiations and disputes. Administer the complete recruitment cycle for salaried positions while guiding the HR Administrator in hourly recruitment. Stay informed about laws and regulations concerning EEO, affirmative action, and labor relations. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws. Act as a coach for line leaders to enhance team performance. Work closely with management and staff to improve workplace relationships and morale. Collaborate with the Safety team to conduct investigations and promote safety initiatives. Represent the company in negotiations with labor organizations. Assist in managing FMLA and ADA processes. Handle unemployment claims and participate in appeal hearings. Support the Safety Department with workers' compensation claims. Identify training needs for both salaried and hourly employees. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to engage with all organizational levels. Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations. Knowledge of dispute resolution and compensation practices. Willingness to maintain visibility on the plant floor. Ability to remain calm and persuasive in challenging situations. Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities. Strong time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with HR software and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related field. Minimum of five years in HR administration, including two years in employee relations or equivalent experience. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Occasional walking within the plant environment. Exposure to loud noises and varying temperatures. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
