Management Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and mentors the HR team to ensure effective performance.
  • Collaborates with plant leadership to devise innovative HR strategies.
  • Conducts timely and constructive performance assessments.
  • Leads recruitment initiatives for hourly positions and oversees the hiring process for salaried roles.
  • Promotes employee engagement and retention strategies.
Key Duties:
  • Addresses routine labor relations and HR inquiries regarding policies and agreements.
  • Engages in Gemba walks to maintain visibility and accessibility throughout the facility.
  • Manages the grievance process, ensuring prompt responses from management.
  • Conducts initial interviews and investigates employee relations issues.
  • Oversees seniority lists and job bidding processes.
  • Analyzes data to assess the implications of negotiations and disputes.
  • Administers the full recruitment cycle for salaried positions while guiding the HR Administrator for hourly roles.
  • Ensures compliance with EEO laws, affirmative action, and labor relations regulations.
  • Maintains adherence to local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Acts as a coach for line management.
  • Works closely with management and staff to enhance workplace relationships and morale.
  • Coordinates with the Safety team to conduct investigations and promote safety initiatives.
  • Represents the company in negotiations with labor organizations.
  • Collaborates with legal counsel during labor negotiations.
  • Assists with FMLA and ADA processes.
  • Manages unemployment claims and participates in hearings.
  • Supports the Safety Department with workers' compensation claims.
  • Identifies training needs for all employees.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to engage with all organizational levels.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of dispute resolution and compensation management.
  • Willingness to maintain a visible presence on the plant floor.
  • Ability to remain composed and persuasive in challenging situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient time management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years in HR administration, including two years in employee relations.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
  • Occasional walking within the plant.
  • Exposure to loud environments and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
