Job Overview:

The Plant Human Resources Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing human resource functions within the manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Plant General Manager and indirectly to the Corporate Director of Human Resources, this position is integral in fostering employee relations and ensuring compliance with labor practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and mentor HR staff to enhance their performance and development. Collaborate with plant leadership to devise effective human resource strategies. Conduct timely and constructive performance assessments. Spearhead recruitment initiatives for hourly positions and assist in hiring for salaried roles. Advocate for employee engagement and retention strategies.

Core Duties:

Address routine inquiries regarding labor relations and HR policies. Engage in Gemba walks to maintain visibility within the plant. Oversee the union grievance process, ensuring prompt management responses. Conduct initial interviews and gather information on employee relations issues. Manage the seniority list and facilitate job bidding processes. Analyze data to assess the implications of negotiations and disputes. Oversee the complete recruitment cycle for salaried positions while guiding the HR Administrator in hourly recruitment. Stay informed on laws and regulations regarding EEO, affirmative action, and labor relations. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws. Act as a coach for line management. Work closely with management and staff to enhance workplace relationships and morale. Partner with the Safety team to conduct investigations and promote safety initiatives. Represent the company in negotiations with labor organizations. Collaborate with legal teams during negotiations with employee groups. Assist in managing FMLA and ADA processes. Handle unemployment claims and participate in appeal hearings. Support the Safety Department with workers' compensation claims. Identify training needs for both salaried and hourly staff. Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Capability to engage with all organizational levels. Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations. Knowledge of dispute resolution and compensation management. Willingness to maintain visibility on the plant floor. Ability to remain calm and persuasive in challenging situations. Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Proven time management capabilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related field is required. Minimum of five years in human resource administration, including two years in employee relations, or equivalent experience. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. Occasional walking within the plant. Exposure to loud environments and varying temperatures. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
