Job Title: Entry Writer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Entry Writer to join our team at Ceva Logistics. As an Entry Writer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of import shipments, while adhering to all applicable company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process import shipments, including receiving freight, documentation, and way billing, and assessing charges.
  • Open files on our dedicated software system for each shipment received and respond to inquiries by fax, email, or telephone.
  • Negotiate with domestic customers and foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreements.
  • Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations.
  • Prepare manifests to accompany shipments and notify consignees of delays in departure of shipment.
  • Convert foreign currency figures into United States monetary equivalents and calculate duties or tariffs to be paid on merchandise.
  • Correspond with foreign companies and prepare entry papers from shipper's invoice in accordance with U.S. Customs Service regulations.
  • File papers with Customs Service and arrange for payment of duties.
  • Quote duty rates on goods to be imported and contact customs officials to effect release of incoming freight and resolve customs delays.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, minimum two to four years related experience.
  • Ability to learn all aspects of the team's work and provide cover and assistance on a regular basis.
  • Good analytical skills, strong PC skills, and thorough knowledge and understanding of sea freight product/environment.
  • Self-starter, disciplined with leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Minimum six months to one year related experience in freight forwarding.
