Campus Security Specialist II

The Florida Institute of Technology is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Campus Security Specialist II. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Campus Security team is tasked with overseeing campus surveillance and conducting regular patrols of facilities to deter criminal activity. Responding promptly to emergencies and routine service requests is a critical aspect of this role, as is collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a visible and proactive representative of the University, ensuring a secure atmosphere for all community members.
  • Conduct foot, bicycle, and golf cart patrols, providing assistance and escorts as necessary.
  • Engage with the University community to promote safety awareness and provide essential information regarding safety, directions, and parking.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards, coordinating with relevant departments for resolution.
  • Assist University personnel in addressing policy violations that disrupt the educational environment.
  • Respond to emergencies, coordinating with law enforcement and medical personnel, and follow up on incidents as required.
  • Document incidents and maintain accurate logs, utilizing the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system as needed.
  • Support special events by managing traffic, parking, and crowd control.
  • Monitor parking areas, issue citations, and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
  • Conduct initial investigations in the absence of designated investigators, providing necessary support to complainants.
  • Be prepared to work during emergencies, remaining on-site until situations are resolved.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills with a diverse community.
  • Preferred qualifications include additional certifications or training in security or law enforcement.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security licenses within the first month of employment.
