POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in delivering Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship through unarmed security services to ensure the safety and security of associates, patients, and visitors of Health First facilities.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Deters criminal activity and misconduct; investigates suspicious situations; performs security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
  2. Communicates via 2-way radios, telephones, and computers.
  3. Monitors for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  4. Alerts authorities in case of fire or presence of unauthorized individuals.
  5. Informs violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or carrying prohibited items.
  6. Permits authorized individuals to enter property and monitors entrances and exits.
  7. Observes departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensures authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate physical security requirements.
  8. Conducts patient escorts, patient watches, and provides safety escorts.
  9. Assists and/or transports deceased to morgue.
  10. Completes required shift logs and reports; complies with site post orders, and Health First policies and procedures.
  11. Investigates and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
  12. Assists associates, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by department supervision.
  14. Maintains required certifications, licensing, and training to achieve professional competency as appropriate for the position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Associates must be at least 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
  • At least one (1) year verifiable work experience preferably in courier, security, or customer service role.

Licensure:

  • Current, valid State of Florida driver's license required.
  • Clean State of Florida Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Class D Security Officer License preferred.

Certification:

  • Must complete American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course within 60 days of hire and maintain certification.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days.
  • Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patients in crisis.
  • Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering sensitive areas.
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Ability to actively listen, interact cordially, and effectively communicate with the public.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend conversation and symbols in the English language.
  • Attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to climb up to nine (9) flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to withstand extreme heat and cold.
  • Must be able to listen, speak, walk, stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time, for assigned shift.
  • Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able & willing to properly wear Personal Protective equipment for assigned shift.
  • Must be able to respond within 90 seconds of an urgent duress call.
