Job Summary

We are seeking two clinically-oriented ABIM board-certified academic cardiologists to participate in both inpatient and outpatient services within the division. Opportunities exist to focus on areas such as vascular medicine, onco-cardiology, non-transplant heart failure, and echocardiography. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to work with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders, and participate in leadership roles in the Echo Lab and Cardio-Oncology Program.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop a robust out-patient clinical practice with three one-half day clinics per week initially at the downtown practice site and satellite locations.
  2. Participate in the Inpatient CCU, Ward, and Consult Services, and reading ECGs.
  3. Participate in the Echo Lab, CT, Nuclear, and cardiac MRI reading schedules as your interests and training allow.
  4. Participate in structural echocardiographic imaging training as needed to assist with TAVR, MitraClip, and Watchman procedures.
  5. Participate in night and weekend call coverage at all hospitals and in-patient cardiology services as needed.
  6. Generate work RVU's at or above the 65th%ile for a non-invasive cardiologist as reported by the UHC Faculty Practice Solution Center and adjusted for your assigned clinical FTE.
  7. Participate in the teaching activities of the Division in support of Phase I, II, and III medical students, residents, and the training of Cardiology fellows.
  8. Actively participate in faculty meetings and marketing and outreach activities.
  9. Participate in scholarly activities, such as clinical/translational research, publication of case reports, review articles, etc.
Required Qualifications
  • MD, Board certified, Board eligible, completion of cardiology fellowship.
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor salaries are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. Conditions of Employment
