Aerospace Materials and Processes Engineer

At Blue Origin, we're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. We're seeking a talented Aerospace Materials and Processes Engineer to join our growing Lunar Permanence team and build a strong Materials and Processes Engineering division dedicated to safely and successfully delivering the Lunar objectives at Blue Origin.
Key Responsibilities
- Own bolted and bonded joints (non-welding) strategy, joint requirements, and verification of joints; provide design engineering support for non-welded joints for all vehicle systems.
- Review production drawing for large complex assemblies systematically, documenting the review to the established requirements.
- Responsible for Materials and Processes signatory release of engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
- Lead and coordinate internal and external Materials and Processes efforts, including development of specifications, supplier qualification, First Article Inspection, mechanical testing, and customer-facing updates.
- Lead the development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate joint evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
- Work with cross-functional teams within the Lunar organization and other business units.
Requirements
- S. degree in Aerospace, Material Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of demonstrated Materials and Processes Engineering experience on a production space program.
- Direct experience with adhesively bonded joints in aerospace applications.
- Experience in materials and manufacturing process review and selection, development, and qualification.
- Demonstrated experience defining, developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of joints, components, materials, and processes.
- Knowledge of industry standards for material data analysis.
- Ability to travel to support development and testing opportunities at other Blue Origin and vendor sites.
