Leidos is currently looking for qualified professionals to join our team as Civil Engineers. In this role, you will take on the responsibilities of project engineers, focusing on planning and design initiatives that support modernization efforts for aviation facilities.

Your duties will encompass the creation of comprehensive project plans, defining scopes, establishing schedules, estimating costs, and identifying resource needs. You will also be responsible for developing detailed drawings, specifications, and risk management documentation in collaboration with various stakeholders.

This position involves a variety of projects, including environmental equipment installations, mechanical systems, roofing, parking lot construction, facility renovations, and security enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site surveys to produce accurate designs and comprehensive reports.
  • Create sketches that illustrate the relationship between proposed installations and existing or new facilities, including precise specifications and dimensions.
  • Engage in construction inspections and final evaluations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and other personnel to identify and resolve design or implementation challenges.
  • Coordinate design elements with multi-disciplinary teams for site-specific modifications and new construction projects.
  • Prepare AutoCAD construction drawings, site-specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates.
  • Manage project-related tasks and communications, including safety plans and work sequences.
  • Develop and coordinate Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC) and project risk registers to comply with Operational Risk Management (ORM) standards.
  • Facilitate the completion of Work Permits for potential hazards during construction.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders to ensure alignment with ongoing projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction activities to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Oversee on-site cutovers, testing, and facility restorations.
  • Maintain regular updates on project progress for the team and stakeholders.
  • Review contractor design and construction submissions.
  • Provide technical engineering support throughout all phases of new construction and renovation projects.
  • Conduct internal design reviews of engineering projects.
  • Track and resolve issues related to Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI).
  • Monitor project progress and stakeholder requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in foundation design and industrial structural systems.
  • Current knowledge of building structural codes for performing design calculations and engineering assessments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and engineering scheduling tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage electronic project documentation effectively.
  • Eligibility for FAA Public Trust clearance.
