About the Position

This is a full-time benefit-earning position within the Adult Representation Services (ARS) department at Hennepin County. The successful candidate will provide exceptional client-facing customer service, interact with clients, visitors, and external professionals, and support attorneys with various tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to attorneys, including opening and closing cases in an electronic case management system, uploading documents, assisting with client communication, and file management.
  • Interact in person, over the telephone, or electronically to assist clients, visitors, and external professionals with a broad range of requests for information; explain various requirements, policies, and procedures regarding services; and resolve various concerns and issues regarding service.
  • Ability to multi-task while recognizing and managing priorities and meeting established deadlines.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, with the ability to use discretion regarding department operations, providing customer service, and accessing confidential client data.
  • Ability to effectively interact with individuals from social, economic, and culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with other support staff, including paralegals, case management assistants, and legal services specialists, to meet the needs of clients and attorneys.
Requirements
  • One of the following: Two years or more of full-time office clerical experience. Completion of two years or more of post-high school education. 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program or the Healthcare Clerical Pathway Training program. One year or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training program.
  • Nice to have: Experience working in a legal setting. Providing support to both clients/customers and staff. With SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while being responsive to immediate and unexpected demands. Adapt quickly to change. Help create and implement new processes. Collaborate successfully with partner organizations and external professionals. Effectively able to communicate written and verbally and have strong interpersonal communication skills.
