Job Summary

The successful candidate will be part of the Accident Prevention Team (APT) for lifting and handling activities at our facility. The candidate must be knowledgeable of Electric Boat rigging operations and capable of maintaining excellent customer, management, and trade relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality oversight and develop pro-active strategies to improve performance.
  • Regularly interact with core and non-core riggers to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Lifting and Handling Discipline Steering Team, Audit and Assessment, and other stakeholders to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Run the weekly SAPIP meeting with D920 management and the Groton/Quonset Point APT meeting.
  • Make recommendations to D920 management on how to improve L&H performance based on observations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 plus years of shipyard experience.
  • Electric Boat Lifting and handling experience (engineering or shipyard).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Vocational, technical, and community colleges or apprentice programs.
  • Relevant education or training.
Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Ability to maintain excellent customer, management, and trade relations.
