ROLE OVERVIEW:
TerraPower is in search of a dedicated Lead Engineer specializing in Nuclear Fuel Systems. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the design and evaluation of fuel handling systems and equipment tailored for the Natrium Generation IV Reactor.

Ideal candidates will possess a robust background in equipment design and qualification, particularly in Thermal Analysis, along with experience in equipment operation, maintenance, and fabrication.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop nuclear fuel handling systems and associated equipment from initial requirements to final design.
  • Conduct and review thermal analysis for fuel handling systems and equipment.
  • Propose and evaluate design solutions based on thermal considerations.
  • Assist in planning and ensure adherence to schedules for design activities, integrating them with the overall plant design timeline.
  • Identify and apply relevant design codes such as ASME, ANS, ASTM, ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA, and other regulatory standards in system design.
  • Collaborate with various design disciplines (mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to gather and develop plant design information, specifying system design and performance criteria.
  • Document engineering work through technical writing, including system design descriptions, equipment specifications, design reports, and calculations.
  • Present design outcomes during design reviews and assess the technical validity of solutions proposed by team members and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of work products.
  • Initiate and support testing programs, overseeing test execution, evaluation of results, and reporting.
  • Engage with licensing activities related to Safety Analysis Reports.
