Key Responsibilities- Design and Development: Design and develop reactor structures and components from requirements through final design, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
- Analysis and Calculation: Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options, utilizing finite element stress analysis and mechanical analysis methods.
- Interface and Review: Interface with the team's engineering analysis activities, presenting equipment and components design results for design reviews and assessing the technical merit of solutions provided by team members.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Interface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring to ensure high-quality engineering design and process improvement.
- Continuous Learning: Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of eight years of equipment/component design experience; relevant Master's degree credited as two years of experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Working experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III.
- Design Specifications: Experience writing design specifications.
- Design for Manufacturability and Assembly: Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, creative thinker.
- Software Proficiency: Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent writing and communication skills, ability to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems, and ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.
- CAD and SolidWorks: Familiarity with CAD, SolidWorks preferred.
- Personal Qualities: The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
