Position Overview:
Yoh is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. This role focuses on Special Chemistry and serves as a vital technical resource for both internal hospital staff and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for laboratory operations.
  • Review and assess the technical work of colleagues, addressing complex technical challenges.
  • Create educational protocols and curricula for training purposes.
  • Provide education and support to internal and external stakeholders as needed.

Compensation: $71 - $80/hr (commensurate with experience)

Job Functions:

Ensure compliance with all safety, health, regulatory, and legal requirements, as well as the policies and procedures of the organization.

Conduct statistical analyses of laboratory tests utilizing advanced clinical laboratory techniques in various specialties, including chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, and microbiology.

Evaluate and interpret test results in accordance with established guidelines, drawing conclusions and determining the need for further testing.

Perform clinical laboratory tests of varying complexity, ensuring accurate and reliable results for disease diagnosis, prevention, or treatment.

Maintain and conduct operational checks on analytical equipment to ensure proper functionality and test performance.

Consult on the appropriateness of tests ordered and assist clients in selecting the correct tests.

Assess training needs and participate in the in-service training of laboratory personnel, acting as a technical resource.

May assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of management and lead weekend operations, while also engaging in special projects and complex maintenance tasks.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, with a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in a related role.

Proficiency with laboratory analyzers, including:

  • AU, DXI, Architect, ESP's, Mass Spectrometry, and ICP-MS.

Required Skills:
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in Special Chemistry.
  • Familiarity with CAP preparation, inspections, and quality control reviews.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw informed conclusions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of laboratory sciences, including chemistry, biology, and microbiology.
  • Understanding of laboratory regulations, methods, and controls.
  • Commitment to staying updated on new technologies in the field.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification.
  • Additional certifications may include Clinical Chemist, Clinical Cytogeneticist, Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist, Clinical Hematologist, Clinical Histocompatibility, Clinical Immunohematologist, Clinical Microbiologist, and Clinical Toxicologist.
