Exciting Opportunity for a Mass Properties Engineer

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is a leading provider of innovative solutions for the aerospace and defense industries. We are seeking a highly skilled Mass Properties Engineer to join our team in [Location].

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems throughout the product lifecycle. This includes preliminary weight estimation, mass properties database generation, regular weight status updates, and final aircraft weighing.

The Mass Properties Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and support cutting-edge products and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles and practices, as well as experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

We offer a competitive salary range of $138,000 - $190,000, depending on experience, as well as annual incentive pay based on performance. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, and three weeks of paid time off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems
  • Conduct preliminary weight estimation, mass properties database generation, and regular weight status updates
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and support cutting-edge products and services
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve technical issues and improve product performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
  • 17 or more years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Advanced experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Thorough understanding of SAWE RP7 and prior experience authoring SAWE RP8 reports
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with wind tunnel and aircraft flight test
  • Exposure to aircraft stability principles and control system design and analysis
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, including parametric design, model-based definition, and fundamentals of flight mechanics
