Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with measuring vital signs, assisting during physical examinations, and completing medical workups.
  • Administer and update immunizations, perform phlebotomy services, and document patient information in the electronic record.
  • Register patients for clinical appointments, collect copayments, and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Interact with patients, families, physicians, and third-party carriers to resolve patient-related issues.
  • Work as a lead for others in a team environment and assist with training and development.
  • Schedule patients for lab tests, medical examinations, and consultations.
  • Relay information to patients regarding preparation for lab tests and examinations.
  • Maintain familiarity with various types of medical insurance to explain these plans.
  • Obtain pre-certifications as required by patient's health care insurers or managed care providers.
  • Assist patients or family members with completion of medical insurance forms.
  • Inform patients of costs of care being provided and guide them to appropriate resources for further information, guidance, or assistance.
  • Arrange or assist in arranging patient transportation.
  • Answer telephone, screen callers, relay messages, and greet visitors.
  • Open, sort, and screen mail.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required.
  • Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.
  • One year or more of work experience in a similar service-oriented industry required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lead or supervisory experience.
