Job Title:

Director of the University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory

Job Summary:

The University of Kentucky is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the laboratory's operations, including budget development, management and supervision of staff, and maintaining compliance with quality management systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all laboratory operational activities, including budget development and management, staff supervision, and quality management system compliance.
  • Work closely with the UK Gluck Equine Research Center, the UK Department of Animal and Food Sciences, and other UK academic units.
  • Interact with industry stakeholders, including the Office of the Kentucky State Veterinarian, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and the USDA Area Veterinarian in Charge.
  • Oversee a cooperative teaching agreement with Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Participate in clinical service, team-teaching, and research activities.
Requirements:
  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in veterinary diagnostic laboratory or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of directing/supervising experience.
  • Specialty board certification and an advanced degree (MS or PhD) are desired.
