Job Summary:

The University of Kentucky is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The successful candidate will lead a team of faculty and staff in providing diagnostic services to the veterinary profession, livestock agriculture, and other stakeholders. The Director will be responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with quality management systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee laboratory operations, including budget development and management
  • Manage and supervise professional and technical staff
  • Maintain compliance with quality management systems and accreditation standards
  • Collaborate with university departments and external stakeholders to advance the mission of the laboratory
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance laboratory services and reputation
Requirements:
  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (MS, MBA, MPH, PhD)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in veterinary diagnostic laboratory or relevant work
  • Minimum 5 years of directing/supervising experience
  • Specialty board certification and administrative experience preferred
