Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Radiology Manager, the Radiology Imaging Specialist completes the day-to-day radiological MRI, CT, Diagnostic Imaging, C-Arm, or Ultrasound Imaging functions to produce high-quality images for ordering physicians and radiologists.

Essential Job Functions
  • Interviews patients to obtain patient history and informs patients regarding patient safety, contrast media contraindications, and patient procedures, practicing AIDET principles.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors in and around the MRI Suite.
  • Positions patients appropriately and provides instructions related to breathing, communication, observation, and length of sequences/exam.
  • Enters required patient information accurately into the computer, selects appropriate protocol, scans, and techniques in accordance with protocol within acceptable time frames, and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Produces imaging in accordance with optimum standards for radiologist interpretation and completes archiving responsibilities on each patient.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities, including PACS duties and exam import.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities as C-arm, fluoro, CT, and procedure technology as necessary, adhering to attendance and call duties.
  • Demonstrates the spirit of the hospital's philosophy, mission, and values through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment, practicing KWAKT, HEAL, SOB, and AIDET.

The Radiology Imaging Specialist applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day-to-day activities of the position.

The Radiology Imaging Specialist maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel, and strategic issues, adhering to the Confidentiality Policy.

The Radiology Imaging Specialist maintains positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment, adhering to the hospital's Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct in the HR Manual.

The Radiology Imaging Specialist displays honesty and mutual respect when communicating with peers and other departments.

The Radiology Imaging Specialist follows through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using the appropriate chain of command.

The Radiology Imaging Specialist utilizes concepts of age/developmental stages in interactions with patients and families.

Minimum RequirementsCertification, Licensure:
Current CPR certification; registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of Arkansas.

Experience, Training, Knowledge:

Wanted:
Minimum of two (2) years experience as a technologist in a surgical setting or demonstrates acceptable knowledge/experience.

Physical Requirements:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to fifty (50) pounds while administering care to patients, etc. Stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching daily in delivery of patient care, obtaining equipment, etc. Standing and walking more than five (5) hours per day in administering patient care in multiple rooms. Running, occasionally, in responding to patient care emergencies. Reaching, grasping, handling, and/or feeling five (5) or more hours per day in administering patient care, i.e. operating various radiologic equipment.

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures:

Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts.

Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.
