Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our Special Education team at McLean County Unit District No. 5. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing speech and language services to students with communication disorders, working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Diagnosis: Administer standardized and supplemental assessments to identify students with communication disorders and develop recommendations for therapy.
  2. Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders, in accordance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to provide requested information, develop plans of service, and coordinate speech and language therapy services with other disciplines.
  4. IEP Process: Coordinate meetings and IEP processes for eligible students, presenting and collaborating to develop therapy treatment plans and provide training to parents, students, and staff.
  5. Therapeutic Strategies: Design and implement therapeutic strategies to modify communicative behavior and identify appropriate assistive communication devices.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date files and records, including IEPs, MTSS plans, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  7. Professional Development: Participate in professional development meetings, workshops, and training sessions to expand knowledge and skills, and convey information to other professionals.
  8. Supervision: Supervise training of school speech-language pathologist interns in Unit No. 5 School District.
Qualifications
  1. Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  2. Professional Educator License (PEL) School Support Personnel Endorsements - Speech Language Pathologist (Non-Teaching Pre-K to Age 21) or PEL Teaching Endorsements - Special Pre-K to Age 21 Special Education Speech Language Pathologist (Teaching)
  3. ASHA CCC's preferred, but CF candidates welcome to apply
  4. Other qualifications as deemed acceptable by the Board of Education
