POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The Special Education Instructor for the Autism Program serves as the primary educator, responsible for designing, coordinating, and executing the classroom curriculum. This role includes providing leadership within the classroom and collaborating with assigned support staff.
  • COMPENSATION: $44,000 - $60,000+, with payment distributed throughout the year, based on experience.
  • SIGN-ON INCENTIVE: $2,500 for external applicants.
  • WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, typically from 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, aligned with the academic calendar, including responsibilities for summer programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Instructional Planning: Develops, organizes, evaluates, and implements a tailored curriculum that addresses the unique behavioral, academic, and social needs of each student, in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Performance Assessment: Gathers, prepares, and presents behavioral and academic performance data for each student. Maintains comprehensive records and applies statistical methods to evaluate student progress.
  • Curriculum Development: Creates and executes lesson plans that embody best practices in specialized educational instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of special education or secondary education, with a focus on teaching children with various disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders.
  2. Special Education Teacher License (LBS-1) from the State of Illinois in one or more of the specified areas of disability.
