Student Teacher Supervisor

Job Summary:
The School of Music at Illinois State University invites applications for a Student Teacher Supervisor to mentor teacher candidates in their student teaching internship across the state of Illinois. As a liaison between the university and school district personnel, the supervisor will be responsible for observing the student teacher on-site and providing a formal assessment of the teacher candidate's teaching episodes. The supervisor will also review various assignments associated with student teaching and assign grades for the student teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete five visits with the student teacher and the cooperating teacher within the semester.
- Keep weekly informal communication with the student teacher through phone calls or emails, as well as informal communication with the cooperating teacher as needed.
- Read and review the student teacher's edTPA materials, if applicable.
- Complete a formal assessment of observations using the School of Music rubric and upload through LiveText electronic portfolio.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Music Education or related field.
- Five years of music teaching experience.
- Ability to support and mentor the student teacher throughout the student teaching experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High standard of professionalism as a representative of the School of Music and Illinois State University.
- Ability to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language, as mandated by state law.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- Experience as a cooperating teacher and/or student teacher supervisor.

The supervisor will work in a fast-paced academic environment, collaborating with faculty and staff to provide high-quality education to students. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
