Job Title: Medical Biller/Coder Specialist Office

At FMC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Biller/Coder to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Medical Biller/Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our medical billing and coding processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting patient charts to determine correct codes and modifiers for generating claims from the EHR system.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and information security.
  • Communicating with insurance companies about coding errors and disputes.
  • Contacting physicians and other healthcare professionals with questions about treatments or diagnostic tests given to patients with regard to coding procedure.
  • Checking claim rejections daily, which includes correcting and resubmitting as necessary.
  • Identifying and resolving all outstanding claim processing issues, which may include contacting insurance for claim status, filing appeals on denied claims, submitting corrected claims, and communicating within the department to identify denial trends.
  • Making outbound courtesy calls to patients to collect on outstanding balances and/or acceptable payment arrangements per policy.
  • Answering incoming phone calls from patients regarding balances due on their account, processing patient payments, and/or making acceptable payment arrangements per policy.
