Clinical Laboratory Medical Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Laboratory Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care within our clinical laboratory setting. This position involves taking vital signs, confirming patient identities in medical records, and performing various examination room tasks. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for drawing blood from patients and donors for testing and other medical purposes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Measure patient vital signs and gather intake information.
- Conduct clinical procedures, including blood draws, vaccinations, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs.
- Evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate education and resources.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of examination rooms for procedures.
Laboratory Assistant Duties:
- Prepare equipment following established protocols for specific tests and procedures.
- Interview patients and donors to ensure accurate labeling of blood samples.
- Guide patients and donors through procedures, addressing any questions they may have.
- Adhere to all standard protocols for blood collection, seeking supervisor assistance when necessary.
- Dispose of used materials properly and provide post-procedure instructions to patients and donors.
- Complete ongoing training to ensure compliance with position requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks, including daily temperature assessments and routine testing controls.
- Compile end-of-month reports for the Laboratory Operations Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is mandatory.
- Current BLS certification is required upon hire.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a medical assistant is necessary.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent composition and proofreading abilities.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Arabic) are preferred.
- Ability to interpret various forms of instructions, including written, oral, and diagrammatic.
- Proficient knowledge and experience in phlebotomy.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Experience handling confidential information with professionalism and ethics.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Capability to stand for extended periods.

Compensation: $32.55 per hour, based on experience.
