- Assist medical providers with exams and minor surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Administer and document parenteral, oral medications, and skin tests as ordered by medical providers, adhering to strict protocols and regulations.
- Clean minor wounds, change dressings, and remove sutures with direct supervision, ensuring proper wound care and infection control.
- Prepare exam rooms and equipment, ensuring a clean and organized environment for patients and medical providers.
- Manage inventory and ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and forms, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency.
- Scan prescriptions to the pharmacy prior to patient departure, ensuring accurate and timely medication management.
- Enter data into the Electronic Medical Records System, including vital signs, allergies, and medications, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Scan insurance information and medical reports into the Electronic Medical Records System, ensuring seamless communication between departments.
- Evaluate patient immunization status and administer vaccinations according to accepted schedules, standing orders, and medical provider approval, promoting public health and safety.
- Monitor vaccine supply for proper refrigeration and freezer temperatures, immediately notifying supervisors of any issues.
- Register immunizations in the San Diego immunization registry database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Obtain, prepare, store, and forward specimens to the laboratory, including finger stick hemoglobin, blood glucose, hemoglobin A1C determinations, lipid levels, urine pregnancy test, rapid strip test, urine dipstick, urine micral, and capillary lead specimens, under the supervision of laboratory technicians.
- Inform medical providers of observed patient behavior that may affect patient illness or treatment, promoting effective communication and patient care.
- Provide patient comfort and bring patient issues to the attention of the Clinical Operations Manager, ensuring patient satisfaction and well-being.
- Ensure sharps containers are changed as necessary, maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and medical providers.
- Monitor eye wash stations daily, ensuring proper function and maintenance.
- Ensure standards for infection control are met in accordance with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Assist with required reports as needed, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Participate in health conferences and attend all full staff and departmental meetings, staying informed and engaged with the healthcare team.
- Maintain continuing education requirements for Medical Assistant recertification, staying up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge and techniques.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies according to OSHA guidelines, maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and medical providers.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant certification program.
- Medical Assistant experience.
- Current CPR certification.
