About Our Educational Centers:
Upbring Head Start Preschool offers a nurturing and inclusive environment where children can learn, grow, and flourish. We provide essential support and services to families as they prepare for the transition to kindergarten.
Key Responsibilities:
The Early Childhood Education Support Specialist will collaborate with classroom educators to create and maintain a developmentally appropriate learning atmosphere that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of preschool-aged children. This role adheres to the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers, Head Start Performance Standards, and other relevant regulations.
Core Duties:
- Implement active supervision strategies to ensure the safety and security of children during all activities.
- Assist in managing the classroom to foster a stimulating and supportive environment for child development.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of classroom activities tailored to the individual needs of children.
- Support the development and implementation of age-appropriate reading programs aligned with children’s developmental goals.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and fulfill the role of mandated reporter as per Child Abuse and Neglect Policy.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards to ensure the health and safety of children.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and maintain a clean classroom environment.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Communication Responsibilities:
- Assist in gathering and documenting observational data related to child development.
- Facilitate regular communication with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress and needs.
- Support the classroom teacher during parent-teacher conferences as needed.
- Promptly report any concerns regarding child health and safety to the supervisor.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the classroom teacher and support staff to address classroom management and child development concerns.
- Assist in creating and implementing daily learning models that cater to the diverse needs of preschool-aged children.
- Foster strong relationships with children, families, and staff to ensure a quality educational experience.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Enrollment in a program leading to an associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or enrollment in a CDA credential program.
- At least 3 months of experience in early childhood education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Current CDA Certification.
- 1 year of experience in early childhood education.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
