Position Overview

Child & Family Focus, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing tailored behavioral and mental health support to students within educational environments.

Role Summary:

The Behavioral Support Specialist will collaborate closely with educational staff and the Child & Family Focus team to implement effective behavioral management strategies. This position is designed to assist students in adhering to their individualized behavioral plans, aiming to reduce challenging behaviors in the classroom.

Key Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, education, criminal justice, or a related human services field.
  • Alternatively, a Licensed Registered Nurse with one year of verified experience in direct care with children or adolescents.
  • Other relevant bachelor's degrees with one year of verified experience in direct care with children or adolescents may also be considered.
  • An Associate's degree or 60 credits towards a bachelor's degree, accompanied by three years of verified experience in direct care with children or adolescents.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one support to students, collaborating with the educational team to meet therapeutic needs through behavioral interventions.
  • Encourage problem-solving and skill development among students.
  • Guide students in understanding and managing their emotions and responses to various situations.
  • Assist in enhancing decision-making skills to promote positive behavior.
  • Support the cultivation of social skills and appropriate behaviors.
  • Teach stress reduction techniques to students.
  • Gather and analyze behavioral data to track progress.
  • Work in partnership with team members, including educators and external service providers, to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Engage in biweekly consultations and submit necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Utilize an electronic medical record system for case documentation.
  • Participate in monthly group supervisions and adhere to the core values of Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily based within educational settings, fostering a supportive atmosphere for students.
