Exercise Specialist II

As a Specialist-Exercise II at Baptist Memorial Health Care, you will lead, teach, and manage others in the provision of exercise program planning, supervision, and counseling for individuals with or at risk for cardiovascular disease. You will counsel clients and develop fitness programs based on client needs, assist with daily program operations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and supervision to clients who are exercising.
- Meet the educational needs of clients and the community.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient exercise environment.
- Contribute to the development of staff and students.
- Complete assigned administrative and accounting duties.
- Assist with program development and enhancement.
- Display knowledge of fitness assessment techniques, acceptable fitness levels, and exercise prescription.
- Complete assigned goals.
Education:
Preferred: Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field.
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation, or a related field.
Experience:
Preferred: 5 years of clinical experience and progressive operational participation in a fitness-related position.
Minimum: 2 years of clinical experience and progressive operational experience in a fitness-related position.
Licensure, Registration, Certification:
Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 14 days of hire date.
Special Skills:
Preferred: Intermediate computer literacy skills.
Minimum: Basic computer skills.
Training:
Preferred: Arthritis Foundation Certification, American National Academy of Rehabilitation Certification, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification, Medical Exercise Specialist (MES) Certification, or American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Rehabilitation Certification.
Minimum: Certification and/or experience or training equal to that required by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist.
