Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent

T.A. Loving is in search of a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent. In this position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent in the effective management of site operations, ensuring safety, maintaining quality standards, and meeting project production objectives. Your contributions will be vital in adhering to project timelines and budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Risk Management:

  • Generate daily safety documentation.
  • Conduct thorough Project Risk Assessments to identify and mitigate potential health, safety, labor, subcontractor, and quality-related risks.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Company’s Fleet Driving Policy.

Quality Assurance:

  • Carry out daily inspections to confirm that work quality meets or surpasses contract specifications.
  • Offer suggestions for quality enhancements to the Foreman.

Production Management:

  • Work alongside the Superintendent, Project Manager, and General Superintendent to formulate project schedules based on workforce, equipment, crews, and subcontractor needs.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of an updated project timeline.
  • Develop daily action plans based on project specifications to ensure timely and budget-conscious project completion.
  • Coordinate daily activities of the project team in alignment with the project schedule.
  • Oversee material, equipment, and tool lead times in collaboration with the Superintendent.
  • Support the Project Manager in processing payment requests as per contract documents.
  • Compile a final punch list to ensure all project tasks are completed.

Leadership Development:

  • Foster positive relationships with clients, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Provide guidance and training to Project Engineers, Foremen, and Crews to support their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to conduct comprehensive crew performance evaluations with the Foreman's assistance.
  • Mentor and coach employees through clear instructions, constructive feedback, and recognition.
  • Proactively identify and address challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Encourage transparency, integrity, and high standards within the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED, along with three to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensing/Certification: Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. Completion of OSHA 10 training as per company safety procedures is required.
