Since initiating their first residential project in 1954, our client has evolved into a comprehensive provider of residential and commercial construction, development, and property management services.

About the Role


The Commercial Construction Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of all subcontractors on-site and managing field staff assigned to the project.

This individual is accountable for all activities occurring at the project location.

The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring job site safety, maintaining quality standards, managing project timelines, and facilitating communication with architects and consultants regarding field and constructability concerns.

The Supervisor reports directly to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the overall scheduling of the project, ensuring timely completion of all necessary tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with all local codes and regulations.
  • Effectively manage the field and project teams in a collaborative manner.
  • Maintain control over the quality, materials, and costs associated with the project.
  • Foster and sustain positive relationships and communication with clients, Construction Managers, project teams, consultants, subcontractors, the surrounding community, and governmental bodies.
  • Establish job site logistics, field coordination, and project timelines.
  • Review all project documentation for constructability and accuracy, including shop drawings.
  • Keep project records updated, including RFIs, ASIs, and as-builts.
  • Develop and implement a site-specific emergency action plan in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate the activities of subcontractors.
  • Facilitate building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agency interactions.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and submit daily safety audit reports.
  • Participate in Forman meetings, pre-task meetings, safety meetings, and project staff meetings.
  • Manage job site manpower production and performance.
  • Utilize project management and scheduling software effectively.
  • Ensure a clean job site and establish a waste management system.
  • Implement site security measures from the outset of the project through to completion.
  • Monitor erosion control and compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
  • Engage in company and industry events, including meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Promote a "safety first" culture on all job sites, ensuring adherence to OSHA standards.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
  • As a small business, versatility in roles is expected.
A commitment to supporting the business in various capacities is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Lead Foreman in a major trade, Assistant Superintendent, or Commercial Superintendent.
  • Proficient computer skills and a willingness to learn construction management software.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are crucial.
The position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities are necessary, along with problem-solving skills to drive projects towards their goals.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Completion of 30 hours of OSHA certification, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.

  • CPR Certification
  • Training in PPE, Scaffolding, and Fall Protection.
  • Familiarity with acceptable construction site practices, including safety and health regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations.
