Long Beach, California, United States Relativity Space Full time
About the Role

This is a highly technical role that requires a strong background in propulsion systems engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of our Aeon R engine system, from concept to launch and reuse. This will involve driving engine system trades, managing engine interfaces, and negotiating requirements to optimize for the vehicle.

The role will also involve supporting engine system analysis and simulation, engine testing, tool development, and other related activities. As a leader in the Propulsion Engineering team, you will be expected to mentor and guide a small team of engineers with similar responsibilities.

You will be responsible for establishing priorities, communicating with leadership, providing technical guidance, and recruiting. You will also be expected to balance your time between effectively supporting your team's growth and success at Relativity and making direct technical contributions of your own.

About the Team

The Propulsion Engineering team at Relativity Space is responsible for designing and developing the engines that will power our Terran R launch vehicle. We own the design from concept through successful launch and reuse, and work with our partner teams to manufacture, test, and integrate those engines.

We are a fast-paced and dynamic team that is pushing the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced engineer to join our team and help us achieve our goals.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced engineer with a strong background in propulsion systems engineering. You should have a Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field, and at least 5 years of relevant engineering experience.

You should also have direct experience with liquid-propellant rocket engines in a simulation, test, system engineering, or other development role. Experience applying engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is also required.

Strong leadership potential is also essential, which could be demonstrated through mentoring, managing complex interdisciplinary projects, supporting continuous improvement of the people around you, or participating in growing your team through hiring.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary and equity package, a generous PTO and sick leave policy, parental leave, an annual learning and development stipend, and more. To see some of the benefits and perks we offer, please visit our website.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
