Long Beach, California, United States Relativity Space Full time
About the Role

This is a highly technical role that requires a deep understanding of rocket propulsion systems and engine development. As a Principal Propulsion Development Engineer, you will be responsible for driving engine system trades, managing engine interfaces, and negotiating requirements to optimize for the vehicle. You will also support engine system development, analysis, and simulation, as well as engine testing and tool development.

This role requires a strong background in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, as well as experience with liquid-propellant rocket engines. You should be able to lead collaborative projects to completion with minimal oversight and be a self-starter who is always looking for ways to improve yourself and learn more about the systems that interface with yours.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field and 11+ years of relevant experience in a complex engineering system development and/or test environment. Experience with engine subsystems such as combustion devices and turbomachinery is a plus.

At Relativity Space, we offer a competitive salary and equity package, as well as a generous PTO and sick leave policy, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.

About the Team

The Propulsion Engineering team at Relativity Space is responsible for designing and developing the engines that will power the Terran R launch vehicle. We own the design from concept through successful launch and reuse and work with our partner teams to manufacture, test, and integrate those engines.

We are a fast-growing startup company that is committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
