What You'll Do:


The Corporate Communications Strategist is essential in developing and implementing the organization's internal communication strategies, focusing on enhancing employee engagement, promoting organizational culture, and strengthening brand identity.

This role, reporting to the Director of Public Relations and Communication, works closely with the People & Culture teams to create and execute both proactive and reactive communication initiatives that support talent acquisition and retention.

As a vital member of the Communications team, the Corporate Communications Strategist will articulate our mission, values, and dedication to ending child abuse while exemplifying our core principles of being Warriors, Servants, and Family.

Work Standards:


Collaborate with the Director of PR & Communications to refine the existing internal communications strategy to align with the organization's growth, balancing day-to-day communications with engaging campaigns, including follow-up reporting.


Quickly gain knowledge about Upbring's programs and the child welfare sector, including any organization-wide changes.


Develop strategic, high-quality messaging tailored to various organizational audiences, including senior leaders, departments, and managers, utilizing appropriate channels such as newsletters, intranet, and internal employee applications.


Produce and disseminate content, including written material, media, graphics, and photographs for all internal communications initiatives.

Lead the creative direction for internal communications collateral such as flyers, FAQs, and posters.


Create and manage an annual and monthly content calendar for Upbring's internal communications, targeting various organizational audiences.

Share performance updates regularly, highlighting successes, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.

Oversee the production of the monthly internal newsletter, Upbring Update.

Manage and execute various internal campaigns and challenges throughout the year.

Compile weekly media reports for the Senior Leadership team.

Handle complex and sensitive communications projects critical to Upbring.

Enhance and engage Upbring's internal audience across communication channels while collaborating with the social media manager.

Work with the Social Media Manager to ensure employee review sites reflect accurate and up-to-date information about programs and facilities.

Monitor review sites for comments and delegate responses to appropriate teams as necessary.

Explore and implement new communication channels to ensure comprehensive organizational reach.

Measure and report on internal communication metrics monthly.

Identify growth opportunities in both digital and traditional marketing strategies, from planning to execution, including follow-up reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Communication:

Demonstrate exceptional storytelling abilities with a knack for crafting engaging copy for various audiences across multiple platforms.

Establish more rigorous communication operations and measurement practices.

Utilize creativity, planning, writing, and editing skills to develop collateral and convey key messages across diverse platforms (newsletters, emails, flyers, social media, press releases, etc.).

Write, edit, design, and publish a monthly internal newsletter and organizational announcements, with the capability to ghostwrite for any team member.

Manage all written communications for the Upbring Intranet and recognition platforms.

Generate new story ideas while also repurposing existing content into fresh narratives.

Oversee vendor relationships for media tracking platforms to optimize brand and media dashboards while researching new tools for improved efficiency.

Collaborate with internal team members to create an internal communications calendar and style guide for organization-wide use.

Work with Senior leadership on initiatives related to thought leadership and reputation management in recruitment and retention efforts.

Collaborate with Communications leadership on crisis management strategies, anticipating and planning responses to emerging issues.

Share knowledge, implement campaigns, and manage projects while adhering to the organization's messaging and branding standards.

Participate in cross-training activities and share expertise with Communications while learning from others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.

3 years of experience in communications, media relations, strategic communications, journalism, or public relations, demonstrating leadership and impactful contributions.


Encouraging and inclusive attitude towards team members, with a proven track record of fostering a culture of inclusivity.


Ability to synthesize, prioritize, and drive results with a strong sense of urgency, demonstrating strategic planning skills.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (a writing and editing assessment will be required).


Extensive project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects with changing requirements and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Working knowledge of WordPress, HTML, and graphic design, along with an understanding of search engines and SEO.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of post-graduation experience in communications, media relations, strategic communications, journalism, or public relations, showcasing a track record of leadership and impactful contributions.


Certification in communications-related areas such as storytelling, internal communications, crisis communications, or diversity and inclusion.

Proven success in executing strategic communication campaigns that have achieved organizational goals, supported by measurable outcomes.

Advanced knowledge in developing digital engagement strategies, including familiarity with new technologies and social media channels.

Familiarity with employee review sites and strategies to optimize engagement and brand.

Understanding of Upbring or the child welfare system.
