Position Overview

The City of Boynton Beach is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Police Department as Law Enforcement Officers. Our officers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our diverse community, which comprises approximately 75,000 residents from various cultural backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

As a Law Enforcement Officer, your primary duties will include:
  • Conducting patrols in designated areas to maintain public order.
  • Responding promptly to emergency situations and calls for assistance.
  • Engaging in community policing efforts to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Investigating incidents and crimes, providing necessary medical aid when required.
  • Documenting events and actions accurately through reports and digital systems.
  • Managing high-pressure situations, including interactions with vulnerable populations.
  • Testifying in legal proceedings as needed.
  • Enforcing state laws and municipal regulations.

Essential Qualifications

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship (by birth or naturalization).
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 19 at the time of application.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Certification in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Basic Ability Test.
  • Current Physical Abilities Test certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that are desirable include:
  • Completion of at least 60 college credit hours towards a degree.
  • Minimum age of 21 at the time of hire.
  • Experience in roles requiring teamwork and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, particularly those commonly spoken in the community.
