Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Acute Care Unit is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients admitted to the hospital. This role involves a variety of essential functions aimed at ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct patient admissions and thorough assessments to identify individual nursing needs.
2. Develop and implement personalized nursing care plans, coordinating necessary tests and diagnostic procedures.
3. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, including vital signs and responses to treatment.
4. Provide continuous monitoring and assessment of patients, administering interventions as required.
5. Operate and oversee medical life-support equipment, ensuring patient safety at all times.
6. Serve as a key communicator among patients, physicians, and healthcare teams, relaying pertinent information regarding patient conditions.
7. Interpret and execute medical orders efficiently.
8. Address the educational needs of patients and their families, facilitating understanding of health conditions and lifestyle adjustments.

Supervisory Duties:
Oversee support staff within the Acute Care Unit, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and effective workflow management.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Preferred experience in telemetry or completion of an EKG course.
- Diabetes education training may be required upon request.

Skills Required:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting medical literature and regulations.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication dosages.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to varying situations.

Certifications:
- Current CPR certification (to be obtained shortly after hire).
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- ACLS certification (to be obtained within the first year of employment).
