Key Responsibilities:
- Interprets physician orders and ensures proper requisition is obtained prior to testing.
- Collects the appropriate specimens, including blood samples, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Performs both quantitative and qualitative analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, under the guidance of a medical technologist.
- Conducts blood counts and tests necessary for transfusion compatibility.
- Handles and processes medical specimens with precision and care.
- Delivers test results to physicians and nursing staff promptly.
- Maintains accurate documentation of all laboratory requests and results.
- Identifies abnormalities in test results and alerts the physician without delay.
- Responds to urgent (STAT) requests immediately, ensuring timely reporting of results.
- Implements daily quality control measures and cleaning protocols as per established guidelines.
- Manages inventory of supplies, placing orders as necessary.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and reports any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Prepares comprehensive reports and maintains records of workload and actions taken.

- Basic computer skills are preferred.
