Role Summary:
The Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, a 1,200-acre wildlife sanctuary in south San Antonio, TX, is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Site Host. This part-time, seasonal position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our visitors and facilities during after-hours operations. The Site Host will oversee the closing procedures of the center, ensuring that all guests have exited the premises and securing the property accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the opening and closing of the visitor access points at designated times.
  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of facility rentals.
  • Secure the Visitor Center at the beginning and end of operational hours.
  • Conduct safety checks on trails and access roads prior to opening and closing.
  • Restock supplies in the pavilion and center bathrooms as needed.
  • Communicate any maintenance or supply needs to the Center Resource Coordinator.
  • Provide exceptional customer service as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an RV, a valid driver's license, and a personal mobile phone.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding safety and security.
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge with others.
  • Comfortable engaging with the public and youth.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Experience operating utility vehicles, ATVs, or similar equipment is advantageous.
  • Prior experience as a park host or work camper is preferred.
  • Familiarity with general maintenance and customer service roles is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of bird and plant identification, particularly in Texas, is a plus.
  • Ability to walk at least 2 miles for trail inspections is preferred.
  • Experience leading outdoor tours and programs is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in physically demanding outdoor work is preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
