About the Role


Job Summary


This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the team at Atrium Health as a Clinical Pharmacist in the Levine Cancer Institute. As a key member of the pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medication therapies to patients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the patient care team to oversee the provision of safe and effective medication therapies.
  • Review physician orders for drug therapy and monitor this therapy for drug choice, dosage, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, and formulary adherence.
  • Serve as a drug information resource to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers.
  • Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
  • Implement recommendations effectively and utilize existing clinical intervention policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the management of medical emergencies.
  • Precept pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.
  • Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with best practice, policies, and state and federal regulations.
  • Manage medication therapies using clinical guidelines.
  • Check the accuracy of the work of pharmacy support team members or others in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm D. from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current licensure in the state of North Carolina or eligibility for reciprocity.
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and other healthcare team members.
  • Oncology experience is preferred, as is hospital or infusion experience.

Working Conditions


This role involves working primarily in the pharmacy, with occasional delivery of medications to nursing units. You will be required to walk, stand, push a mobile cart, and lift up to 25 pounds. You may be required to stretch, bend, squat, or kneel to perform job duties. You will be exposed to various conditions throughout the workday, including changes in temperature and humidity. You must be able to perform manipulative skills such as writing, typing, and data entry into the computer and automated dispensing machines. You must have use of both hands, be able to see clearly and read small type, and be able to speak and be understood by others to communicate effectively. You must be able to hear normal sounds with moderate background noises. This role involves rotating shifts.
