Summary

This role is designed to enhance the school-wide application of exemplary instructional strategies through integrated professional development, classroom evaluations, and engagement with educators. The individual will serve as a mentor to teaching personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional development and guidance to educators and learning support staff on various instructional tools and methodologies.
  • Assess needs and recommend suitable resources for tailored student learning.
  • Assist in the gathering, evaluation, and presentation of educational data.
  • Collaborate with support services to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Research and share best practices in special education.
  • Regularly meet with certified educators to provide mentorship and support.
  • Engage weekly with school leadership to discuss progress, strategize next steps, and address the diverse needs of students and faculty.
  • Connect with other educational leaders to develop and implement effective special education practices.
  • Actively participate in significant school-wide decision-making by collaborating with the leadership team.
  • Evaluate student performance and assist in identifying appropriate interventions and support services.
  • Enhance both student and teacher performance in targeted areas.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative educational environment.
  • Support the IEP Coordinator in managing and tracking assistive technology.
  • Attend IEP meetings as necessary.
  • Fulfill responsibilities as a mandated reporter regarding incidents of suspected abuse and neglect, in accordance with agency policies.
  • Provide support and consultation to school administrators and the Director of Special Education as required.
  • Communicate directly with certified teaching staff regarding resource room operations, instructional materials, and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid Professional Educator's License with LBS1 endorsement.
  • A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in special education.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with experience in collaborative work with adults.
  • In-depth knowledge of current evidence-based reading instruction, student-centered learning, and data analysis.
  • Ability to design, implement, and assess instructional programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and foster a professional learning community.
  • Successful completion of background checks, physical examinations, and drug/alcohol screenings, meeting all licensing standards.
